Looking for your Spotify RSS feed? In this blog post, we show you how to find it, click-by-click. šµļø
But first we will explain some of the context around the RSS feed, so you can understand the full picture of what the feed is and what it does. Here are some common questions, with our answers, to help you understand everything you need to know about a Spotify RSS feed.
Yes. Spotify can both create and recieve RSS feeds. ā
If you have chosen Spotify as your new podcastās hosting site (check out this blog post for why we donāt recommend that) then it will create an RSS feed as part of its hosting site duties.
If you only chose to distribute to Spotify (which we do recommend), then as a listening platform Spotify does its job by receiving your RSS feed so it can show listeners new episodes, metadata, etc.
Your podcast only has one RSS feed for all listening platforms and directories. In other words, your podcast RSS feed is the same for Spotify, Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes), Stitcher, etc. āļø
So when we say āhow to find your Spotify RSS feed,ā you can just read it as āhow to find your RSS feed.ā
When you are searching for something, it is helpful to know what kind of item, in general, you are looking for. When searching for your podcast RSS feed, you are looking for an URL. š¤
Your RSS feed is a link that will look something like this: https://feed.ausha.co/908dfad890r34
RSS feeds update listening platforms and directories based on what you upload to your hosting platform. In other words, when you record and upload a new audio file (like a new episode), your hosting platform publishes it, sending the new content to the listening platform. š¦
The RSS feed does not just support audio file updates. It can transfer different kinds of media, like all the files you want for your podcasting metadata. This includes image files, episode title, host name, content tags, an indicator if the episode is explicit, video links, etc.
Spotify is one of the most popular podcast listening platforms. It is much more than just a site to listen to free music or tune into a popular track. Even if you do not want to distribute your podcast to every single listening platform out there, you definitely want to add Apple Podcasts and Spotify to your list, at min. š§āš»
On Spotify, creators can choose to make some content that only paid subscribers to their show can access. In terms of the background technology, this means that a private podcast RSS feed is created that is separate from the usual RSS feed.
If you want to listen to a private RSS feed on Spotify then you just need to click on the exclusive episode you want to listen to (it will have a lock icon) and then follow the instructions to input your credit card information to start your subscription. š°
Keep in mind that if you pay for a subscription on Spotify, you may only be able to listen to those exclusive episodes on Spotify itself. You may not be able to listen to them using a different listening platform.
Ok, now we are going to teach you how to locate your RSS feed in Ausha specifically. If you use a different hosting platform the details will look different, but hopefully this still gives a general idea of where you might want to look. šŗļø
Remember: It is the job of a hosting platform to create your podcastās RSS feed. That is why you look for it there.
Here are the easy to follow set of steps:
Start by logging in to your Ausha account.
If you have forgotten your password, do not sweat it! Our support team can email you a link to create a new one. š
Once you log in, you will see the a page that has all your episodes on a playlist. That is how you will know you are starting in the right place! š„³
At the top of the page you will see several options. Click on the āSettingsā tab. This will take you to the Settings page. āļø
On the side of the Settings page, there is a vertical list of options. Select āDistribution.ā
Right there in the middle of the Distribution page, you will find your RSS feed!
While you are on the āDistributionā page, you will see colorful boxes, each one representing a listening platform that you can submit to. By default, Ausha is set up to automatically publish to and update those listening platforms. š
One of those boxes should be titled āSpotify.ā In that box, you will see a link. That link is the link to your podcast page on Spotify. You can send that link to people you know listen to their podcasts on Spotify.
Thanks for joining us today as we explain how to find your Spotify RSS Feed. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at hello@ausha.co or find us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube! š
