How to Submit Your Podcast to iTunes

What better way to increase your audience reach than by adding your podcast to the iTunes store podcast directory?

There are a number of podcast directories that are currently out there, however, in 2017, 55.5% of listeners still played their podcasts via Apple Podcasts or iTunes. It’s clear that adding your podcast to this popular directory can only be incredibly beneficial, especially when it comes to boosting your online visibility.

What are the requirements for submitting my podcast to iTunes?

  • Your own own Apple ID
  • Your podcast artwork is between 1400 x 1400 and 3000 x 3000 pixels in JPG or PNG
  • A unique name for your podcast episode
  • A valid RSS feed for your podcast

Once you’ve filled in the various fields, you will then need to verify your e-mail address by entering the code that you’ve received:

As soon as you’ve verified your e-mail address, you will then need to complete your Apple ID in order to properly get started. You can do so by signing in to the iTunes Store, for example:

If you already have all of the above requirements:

You’re ready to log in to the iTunes Connect portal!

You’ll first need to accept the Terms of Service. You should then be directed to a new page where you’ll need to enter your RSS Feed into the URL field before clicking on Validate.

Providing that you don’t have any validation errors, you should then be able to see a preview of your RSS Feed. If you’re happy with the preview, go ahead and click on Submit!

When will my podcast be available on iTunes?

iTunes reviews all podcasts. Review times may vary, however, the majority of submissions tend to be approved within 3 days (or a couple of hours if you’re lucky) although it can take up to 10 days.

Rest assured that as soon as your podcast has been approved, you should receive an e-mail entitled “iTunes Store Podcast Approved Notification.”
