Lately, you’ve probably heard a lot about one word: “Transcription.” Transcription is presented as THE solution for expanding your audience and boosting your downloads. And indeed, it’s a feature that all podcast professionnels are currently adopting.

For instance, Apple Podcasts recently announced the launch of transcription for every episode on its platform. Spotify also offers transcription in beta for some podcasts. And at Ausha, I’m thrilled to announce that we have just integrated the Transcription feature into the episode publication form.

Clearly, this feature is becoming quite popular.

What does Podcast Transcription mean?

Podcast transcription is the process of converting your audio into text, down to the comma. It might not sound like much, but I assure you, it’s a step that can save you a lot of time.

Until now, there were peripheral tools where you could upload your episodes and they would generate the text of your podcast, more or less for free. Now, if you are hosted with Ausha, regardless of your subscription, you can generate and edit the transcription of your episodes from the same interface, at the very moment you publish your new episode. 🔥

The question now is: what is the purpose of transcribing your podcast? I can hear you asking! A podcast is supposed to be audio, and yes, that’s true – but only partly!

Why generate the transcription of your podcast?

#1 To enhance the accessibility of your podcast 👀

Firstly, transcription allows deaf and hearing impaired individuals to access a type of content that was previously out of reach for them.

From now on, they can simply go to Spotify or Apple Podcasts and read the episodes you record with your voice. As a podcaster, you can reach an entirely new audience, and that’s really cool! 🤩

#2 To improve your podcast’s natural search engine optimization (SEO) 🚀

Transcription is also a game-changer for your podcast’s SEO strategy. As a reminder, SEO, or natural search engine optimization, involves optimizing a website, or even web content, to enhance its visibility in search engine results.

SEO is certainly one of the reasons – if not THE reason – why you should consider generating transcripts of your episodes systematically.

Search engines like Google cannot “listen” to audio content, at least for now. That will probably come, but today, they are not capable of doing so. However, they can read and understand text content. 🤖

And that’s what happens when you generate the transcript of an episode; you create textual content from your audio, which becomes readable and indexable by search engines.

That means the content of your podcast can appear in search results when someone searches for topics you’ve covered in your episode.

Once your transcription is done, it is automatically added to the Ausha Web Page dedicated to your episode and immediately helps to boost your podcast’s SEO. 🔥

If, on the other hand, your podcast is not hosted on Ausha, you could turn the transcription of your episodes into blog articles and post them manually on your own website.

#3 To easily create promotional content for your podcast 📣

Let’s continue a bit in the same vein with what I would call “content recycling” or “snacking content.”

Once the transcription of your episode is ready, you can use it to create all your promotional content around your podcast to introduce it to as many people as possible.

You know ChatGPT? Well, it really goes hand in hand with the transcription feature because we can share our episode text with the AI and ask it to work on all sorts of additional content related to our episode.

Most relevant quotes from our guest, ideas for social media posts, writing a LinkedIn post or your weekly newsletter: with transcription combined with ChatGPT, the possibilities are endless. 🚀

#4 To write metadata in one click 🤖

Finally, having your podcast’s text in black and white thanks to the transcription can also help you more easily write your metadata. I think you know by now, crafting your metadata (i.e., your descriptions, your titles, etc.) is crucial for the visibility of your podcast on listening platforms.

It takes time. And often, by the time the episode is edited and ready to be published, we don’t have much left.

And here too, my advice for you is to use artificial intelligence. We send the transcription to ChatGPT, constrain it with a well-crafted prompt, and boom, we’ve written our description in just a few minutes.

And what’s great is that you can even ask it to write your metadata by incorporating your list of keywords that you want to rank #1 for on the listening platforms.

Discover Ausha’s AI-boosted Transcription Tool

Today, there are various transcription tools. At Ausha, we chose to integrate it directly into our platform so that you have all your tools in one place. For this, we partnered with Gladia.io, a French company at the forefront of Speech-to-Text technology.

This collaboration not only guarantees our podcasters a transcription accuracy of 95% and compliance with GDPR standards but also an impressive speed of service. You can process 30 minutes of audio in less than 5 minutes.

You can transcribe audio content in 99 languages with the same accuracy for each one. And the icing on the cake: often, tools of transcription favor English, and less dominant languages like French are a bit less precise. But that’s not the case here! Probably because Gladia is a French company itself! 🇫🇷
