How to Pick the Best One for You

So how do you know which of these podcast production companies will be the best one for you? Reach out to them and have a chat! 📞

Here are some questions that can help guide the conversation:

  • What kind of clients does the agency typically serve? Businesses? Educational institutions? Independent podcasters?
  • Can the agency send you a podcast (or podcasts) they produce that they think will be most similar to your podcast, both in sound and content?
  • Who exactly will be working with you on an ongoing, month to month basis?
  • Can they give you pricing options to choose from, high to low?
  • Are there any services that they do not provide? Do they often work with certain partner agencies to provide those services?
  • What is their general production process, timeline, etc?
  • Do they just focus on launch help or are they in it for the long haul (ongoing help with podcast statistics, etc.)?

Overall, the general fit is important. They may be one of the top quality agencies in the industry, but if the fit isn’t right, then they might not be the best one for you. Remember: Fame does not equal fit.

Also, make sure all expectations are put in writing with as much detail as possible. What exact services are the podcast production companies are providing, in what time frame, with what quality. Include what expectations are included on your end: When you will get them whatever materials they need, what kind of review feedback will you give, etc. It is critical to establish this from the very beginning. 📋

Finally, ask around in the community. Find podcasts who are customers of the agency and ask them about their experience and level of satisfaction. Have they achieved the podcast ROI they expected?

Also, you might want to consider a different kind of podcast agency than just a production one. Some podcast agencies specialize in things like marketing or guest booking.
